[rackspace_cloud] free and open source software project

stevepiercy
rackspace_cloud is a type in Lasso 8 that allows a developer to
send a request to the Rackspace Identity API to request an
authentication token. In turn this token is used to send a
second request to perform actions using the Rackspace Cloud
Files API. The response for reach request is either in JSON or
XML format, or the HTTP response headers are parsed.

Nice work Steve. Good to see such heavily commented code.

Really nice work Steve.

We’re having good success using Rackspace’s Could Files and CDN for websites with large media libraries, prices are reasonable too. First client/project uses 8 GB in video and photo storage and pushed out 45 GB, total cost for the month is $6.02. This takes the load off our primary web servers and boosts performance for website visitors.

This type will play a big role is leveraging more of what the Could Files and CDN has to offer. We’ll certainly contribute to development as we migrate over more websites and for new projects.

Big thanks,
Max

Re: [rackspace_cloud] free and open source software project

Thanks.  :)

A couple of notes.

This is a fledgling SDK.  Everyone is welcome to submit pull
requests to the project, or fork it and make it your own.

I contacted Rackspace to ask them to include the SDK on their
list, but they said, "Sorry, we don't have resources to take on
the responsibility of maintaining another official SDK."  To
which I replied, "How about just adding a listing for unofficial
and unsupported SDKs?"  "We're considering that."  So there's
hope for greater Lasso exposure via Rackspace.

en/decode_json in Lasso 9 is really slow compared to Python.

A bug report has been filed for Lasso 8.6, and James Harvard's
optimization can help improve performance.

I noticed the same issue while doing work on my twitter_oauth
type for Lasso 9.
