database sleep

minicooper
A basic enquiry...

My FMSA 11 databases go to sleep after al activity on my Lasso 8.5.6
site has stopped for the day (seemingly after the last user's session
has expired). It will take 10-15 seconds to load a complex page first
thing in the morning, but after that it takes 2-3 seconds for the same
and similar pages.

Is there a setting or trick that will keep the database connections
awake and stop Lasso from having to reload them after they've been idle?

RE: database sleep

Hi Roland,

If all that is needed is to keep the database alive by serving requests,
you could use Lasso's event scheduler to continuously visit a URL
through the night.

Thanks Daniel,

I didn't think of that -- I'll give it a try.

If this is on a Mac I would look at the power saving features. Sounds to me like the hard drive is going to sleep. Probably on the Filemaker machine. There is a setting that will prevent that.
