Problems with Encode_Smart tag in Lasso 8.5 ?

James Sheffer
I’ve run into a strange problem on an existing site using Lasso 8.5:

I have a simple 3 column table - Image on the left, text and price in the middle and button on the right.  The problem is with the image to the left - Each image is 125px X 125px at 72dpi but some display at different sizes.  The page is using Bootstrap 3 with an image responsive tag.  If I remove that, the images show correctly but are no longer responsive.

The reason I bring up on the lasso list is that, in the second <td></td> tag, I have an Encode_Smart tag for displaying text from MySQL.

If I remove the Encode_Smart tag and just add dummy text, everything works fine, the images are all the same size and responsive. Has anyone seen this with the Encode_smart tag before?

Below is a code snipped of the code
(this is all in an Iterate tag):

                <table class="cartmain”>
                        <tr>
                                <td align="left" valign="top"><img class="img-responsive" src="client_images/thumbs/[if(($a->get(3)->size)<3)]noimage.jpg[else][$a->get(3)][/if]" alt="[$a->get(2)]" border="0”>
                                </td>
                                 <td style="padding: 10px;"><br /><span class="font_14_bold">[$a->get(2)]</span><br /><br /><span class="font_14">[Encode_Smart($a->get(4))]</span> <br /> <span class="font_14_blue_bold"> [if($a->get(7))] [$a->get(7)] [else] $[math_round((var('itemprice')),0.01)] [/if] </span>
                                </td>
                                 <td style="padding: 10px; text-align:right;"> <div align="right"><a href="product_detail.lasso?id=[$a->get(1)]"><button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary">More Details</button></a></div>
                                </td
                         </tr>
                </table>

-------------------
Any help in getting the images to all display the same size AND be responsive would be a great help!!

What if you saved the encoded text to a variable, and placed that variable in your content ?

Not sure what might be happening to confuse bootstrap but I’d do something like:
local(client_text = Encode_Smart($a->get(4)) )

And then just insert that local in your table.

What about inline css, or use your own class:

Inline:
<img style=“max-width:125px !important;width:100% !important;height:auto !important;" src="client_images/thumbs/[if(($a->get(3)->size)<3)]noimage.jpg[else][$a->get(3)][/if]" alt="[$a->get(2)]" border="0”>

Overide:
<style>
.myResonisiveImage {
        max-width:125px !important;
        width:100% !important;
        height:auto !important;
}
</style>

<img class=“myResonisiveImage" src="client_images/thumbs/[if(($a->get(3)->size)<3)]noimage.jpg[else][$a->get(3)][/if]" alt="[$a->get(2)]" border="0”>

Hi,
I always preferred to use my own class ; more simple and it keeps the code lean.

Re: Problems with Encode_Smart tag in Lasso 8.5 ?

James Sheffer
Thanks all - so far no luck - neither inline CSS or external CSS makes a difference.  Also set the information to a variable with no encoding to no avail...

Just strange - Like I said, If I hard code test text into the iterated items instead of either a lasso variable or using the encode_smart tag the images are all uniform and responsive…,

I’ll keep looking - hopefully something will work - and other ideas are most welcome as well :-)

Thanks!

Mason-

Sure thing:
https://stores.shoppta.com/universal.lasso?c_id=Promote Your PTA&id=&action=goState&clientID=COPTA

You will see the images on the left displaying in various sizes.  I’ve double checked the images and they are all 125px X 125px X 72dpi

Thanks for taking a look!

Re: Problems with Encode_Smart tag in Lasso 8.5 ?

Jason Pettis-2
Here's my guess - something in the Responsive CSS is pushing the image cell
smaller, and it looks like it's based on the amount of text in the
description. Can you set up the page so that it strips out the description,
and drop in the same test sentence? If all the images come back the same
size then it's that description cell that's causing your problem, and you
might have to adjust how that cell functions.

Re: Problems with Encode_Smart tag in Lasso 8.5 ?

Lasso Talk
If I changed TD width in ".table.cartmain" class (set it for each
required break points) image is changed

.table.cartmain td {
     border-width: 0px;
     padding: 1px;
     border-style: none;
     border-color: gray;
     background-color: white;
   width: 10%; /*  set rules (width) for each column of table */

here is preview for:
small break point http://lassozone.com/lassotalk/small-bp.png
big break point http://lassozone.com/lassotalk/big-bp.png

I changed the setting only for the first row and first TD (cell) of the
table. I recommend using at least the basic rules for table setup. ...
and If possible, do not use Bootstrap

hope it will help

I used this class (extend rules from style.css) and look that work fine

.table.cartmain tr td:first-child {
     background-color: red;  /*  remove this */
     width: 18%;
}
