Oldest Proof of Lasso Ownership

Sean Stephens-2
Lassoers

We seem to be having a bizarre trademark issue today with an organization claiming to have used "Lasso" from before our time (*cough* 2009), which I believe are without merit. I also believe that there are people on this list who predate my own use of Lasso. I won't say when I started, as it will make me feel older than I wish to remember. Needless to say, the time to formally trademark Lasso has arrived.

Note that LassoSoft Inc. has dutifully maintained the use of "Lasso" and the rights to all previous companies for the name and IP back through Omnipilot and Blueworld. But, we need help proving that Lasso was purchased by "customers" and existed as a product (formally, web links haven't been enough) from before 2009. Especially in an "enterprise" environment - but all environments are relevant.

I hereby offer the bounty of a free LassoSoft mug to the three individuals who can come up with the oldest three formal examples of physical proof of ownership of Lasso (before 2009). Did you use Lasso in the 90's? Do you have one of these?

- A copy of an old invoice for Lasso
- A scan or picture of old Lasso packaging
- Any other proof of purchase of a copy of Lasso

Please - send me a picture or a link to a picture of one of these - with a date of usage - your oldest example would be fantastic. Also, for fun, we will be posting them on our site - so if you are in the picture, remember to smile!

Who has been here the longest and can prove it? Let's have some fun!

Thanks a mint!

Well, I've dug up a receipt for a LP7 purchase from April 2004 and sent to Sean...

Surely there must be older?

Re: Oldest Proof of Lasso Ownership

Jewett, Greg
In reply to this post by Sean Stephens-2
Yes!

I have been using Lasso since 2000 and possibly even before that, both personally, professionally (at my day job) and through my consulting business.  I have used it since v3.6.6.2 (maybe even older than that.. but that is the oldest email that I have found).

I am sending some older emails to Sean:

Subject: Thank you for ordering from Blue World.
Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 15:17:22 -0700
x-sender: [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>
From: Blue World Sales <[hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>>
To: <[hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>>

Blue World Order No. 62186
Customer ID#: 14281

I have to go home and find the paper receipts.. and the email from my old job -- which will have the proof I need.

Re: Oldest Proof of Lasso Ownership

Sean Stephens-2

>> Who has been here the longest and can prove it? Let's have some fun!

This is all great stuff guys! Unfortunately, archive.org and/or web links don't qualify as "proof of doing business", they only qualify as "intent to do business". It has to be "tangible proof" to make the case.

So yes, the more proof (boxes, physical invoices, etc.), the stronger our defence.

If you have it "relatively" handy, it could mean the difference between continuing to call our language "Lasso" and instead having to change it to "Cobra" or "Diamond" - or "Waltz"?

I have a soft spot for Lasso, too. If you've got something tangible, send it over!

You guys rock! Thanks,
