Missing pdf_image?

Dave Bruhn
Good morning, everyone,

Recently, we migrated a Lasso 9.2.7-based website from being hosted on an older Mac server to a Linux server running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.  In so doing, we found that whenever we call pdf_image, we get the follow error:

-9948 - Definition Not Found: pdf_image(-file=string)

Does anyone know what's up with this?  Any ideas at all?

Thanks,
Dave

Check to make sure that your PDF tags loaded by checking the console.

It could be a broken Java install.

What would the solution be if that's the case?

The install of Java on Linux is pretty straight forward. I'm no pro with apt. I use yum on CentOS. List out what Java components you have installed and ensure you have the full suite. Restart Lasso after you make your changes.

Re: Missing pdf_image?

Brad Lindsay
In reply to this post by Dave Bruhn
Dave,

Be sure to install the Lasso Java package:
    sudo apt-get install lasso-java-api
This may install the java packages you need if they are listed as a dependency.

If you use Imagemagick for anything, be sure to install it too:
    sudo apt-get install lasso-imagemagick

HTH,
Brad

Re: Missing pdf_image?

Dave Bruhn
Thanks, Brad.  That got me a little further, but now, I'm facing another issue.  When calling pdf_image, I'm getting a different error:

Creating JVM
Create JVM failed: -9948 Definition Not Found: java_jvm_create(string, string, string)
-9948 Definition Not Found: java_jvm_getenv()

A search through the listserv found this gem from Jono:

--- Begin Jono's Transmission ---

OK, so I've actioned the fix, forced Java's linked libs to be correctly identified.

However I've had to force it to look there, because there seems to be some weird JVMs in play ("alternative" jvm's) which might be the cause of it not picking up the correct libs.

Sp, steps to check and fix were ultimately:

$ ldd "/var/lasso/home/LassoModules/LJAPI.so" | grep -i j
... showed that there were several libs not found.

$ nano -w /etc/ld.so.conf.d/java.conf
... creates a new file
... contents of which:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.33.x86_64/jre/lib/amd64/
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk-1.6.0.33.x86_64/jre/lib/amd64/server/

This helps Java "find" them, so to speak.

$ ldconfig
... makes the relinking get done.
--- End of Jono's Transmission ---

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me (accounting for the fact that I'm using amd64 and not x86_64).  The missing files are there:
# ldd "/var/lasso/home/LassoModules/LJAPI.so" | grep -i j
        libjava.so => /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/amd64/libjava.so (0x00007f053cf93000)
        libjsig.so => /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/amd64/libjsig.so (0x00007f053cd8f000)
        libjvm.so => /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so (0x00007f053a431000)
        libverify.so => /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64/jre/lib/amd64/libverify.so (0x00007f053a21f000)

Not sure where to go next...

Thanks,
Dave
