LassoLab + EGit + GitHub + Issues

stevepiercy
Would anyone care to see documentation or a video of how to
configure plugins for LassoLab/Eclipse to:

* use git for source control management via EGit
* work with GitHub repositories
* work with GitHub Issues
* work with GitHub Gists
* work with GitHub Pull Requests

If there is sufficient interest, either on-list or privately,
then I'll do the work.  I've only done cursory testing and it
looks promising, but there are some quirks and gotchas.

I'd love to!

Why are you posting the question to the Knop list?

Because it is part of my Evil Plan to Dominate the World™.

Seriously, though, I have a vision for the Knop Project.  I see
Knop becoming the pre-eminent Lasso-based free and open source
software (FOSS) project, not just the best Lasso web application
framework.  In the spirit of FOSS, the Knop Project will teach
the world of Lasso developers how to use tools to collaborate,
share, and write excellent code and documentation.

All the tools cited in the subject of this message work with
GitHub.  Now that Knop is on GitHub, we have those tools at our
disposal.  As we use these tools, we can demonstrate how to
create an excellent project.  I hope that inspires other Lasso
developers to create their own FOSS projects.

Anyway, to more directly answer your question, I wanted to gauge
the interest within the community that uses Knop *now* rather
than the general LassoTalk populace.  I've received sufficient
interest to proceed on work, when I get the time.  Knop will be
the GitHub project I will use in the documentation examples, of
course.  Once it is complete, then I will announce it to first
the Knop list (for guinea pig testing), then the LT list.

Re: LassoLab + EGit + GitHub + Issues

I think this is an excellent rational Steve - I'd love to see the tutorials. I think all the recent work in the tutorial realm is a great step forward for Lasso - especially from non-Lassosoft sources (like Jim Sheffer's recent video).

I'm also keen to use git more - I've been using svn for a long time and the few times I've used git its been great but hard to make the switch.
