Lasso: Internal exception of unknown type.

CoMedia
List,

I have a weird problem that showed up this morning. A weekly lasso event that is supposed to send out a few thousand personalized newsletters, did not work. The page that is generating the newsletter has not been changed for years. However, now it says "Lasso: Internal exception of unknown type."

It's getting more weird. When I move the lasso file to a higher folder level, the page just works. Moving back: internal exception again. It has nothing to do with references to other folders, because even when if I put just Lasso_Version in the script, it's the same.

The server was running Lasso 8.6b02-4 this morning. Later today I have installed the new 8.6b03-4, but it's still the same.

The console says:
"22-03-11 19:32:23 Lasso8Service[18354] Lasso8Service(18354,0xb0081000) malloc: *** mmap(size=1342177280) failed (error code=12)
*** error: can't allocate region
*** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug"

Which might suggest something is wrong with memory. However, the server has 8 GB of memory, all DIMM's are OK according to System Profiler and Server Admin.

Restarting, repairing disk permissions and disk repair did not help. The folders have exactly the same owner and group (lasso/staff) settings and permissions.

Anyone experiencing the same weirdness?

(The server is running Mac OS X Server 10.5.8.)

CoMedia,
Alfred Konijnenbelt

Suggest Nabble Fu:

But, yeah, wouldn't it be nice to have an IDE where you could
set breakpoints and step through your code?

Thanks Steve, but I don't think this thread will help. The error is thrown even when no MySQL or SQLite database operations are involved. A page with just this little snippet

<?LassoScript
    Lasso_Version;
?>

returns the "Lasso: Internal exception of unknown type." error in a specific folder, but not one level higher.

It's not *a* thread, but a search result of 3 threads containing
a total of 14 posts.

Has the hard drive filled up (logging, etc)?  A mmap error usually means you need a larger swap space, maybe there isn't enough room to allocate it?

Thanks for chiming in, Bil!

I have thought about this as well, as I have had some problems in the past with huge Apache log files. Now they rotate every month, which saves a lot of cpu power! So no, that is not the case. The hard drives (RAID1) have 171 GB free. There's 2 GB free memory as well.

For the moment I have solved the problem by moving the affected .lasso page to another place. The mystery remains...
