Lasso 9 Capable of working with a UNC share on IIS?

Sprague, Gary
Anyone tried to get Lasso 9.2.7 working on IIS with the web directory that is a shared UNC path?

I have put a test.lasso file on the share but Lasso is not processing it. I get an error stack:

An unhandled failure during a web request
Error Code: 404
Error Msg: The file "/test.lasso" was not found
Error Stack:
538:3 web_response.lasso

No problem working with the Instance Manager or setting up an instance with a matching local user that allows me to map the UNC path in IIS.  Assumed here that with the proper permissions and Lasso 9’s ability to have an instance run as a local user other than _lasso, that I would be able to reach the shared drive and process a basic lasso file like:

<?Lasso
     date
?>

I found an older article (pre Lasso 9) at http://lasso.2283332.n4.nabble.com/IIS-and-Remote-Drives-td3134788.html but it didn’t offer any resolve.  They were able to read/process lasso files, just not modify.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gary

Although, IIS itself offers good support for virtual folders (both local and UNC) we never got them to work properly with early versions of 9.2, so the problem may still exist.

Even in 8.6.x some file operations required absolute paths (eg  '///inetpub/wwwroot/thefolder' ) with IIS8. (not officially supported)

You can use UNC for image libraries etc, but I don't think you are going to get lasso files to execute from UNCs.

I believe a workaround, would be to have a "master" source folder and then use a folder-synchronisation or source deployment process to keep "local" copies up-to-date.

Regards
Jon

Re: Lasso 9 Capable of working with a UNC share on IIS?

Sprague, Gary
Jon,

Thanks for your feedback.

Based on what I’m trying to do, I’m probably going to have to utilize classic ASP to get this particular task done.

I love Lasso and have been working with it since 1999.  This is the one shortcoming frustrates me the most.
