Lasso 9.3 & FileMaker Encoding

Carl Ketterling
I know we¹ve been over this before, but I can¹t get it right in Lasso 9.3.
I have a FileMaker database with ø and ä, characters, and in Lasso 9.2.4
they serve as expected.  In Lasso 9.3, I get this: &#x;

I¹m looking for advice on how to address this problem.

Re: Lasso 9.3 & FileMaker Encoding

hugo.bragioni@er.lu.se
I have a FM database with äöå characters and Lasso 9.2. I tried to do as recommended in LassoGuide 9.2, Chapter 42. SearchingandDisplayingData : ”FileMaker Server. By default all communication is in the MacRoman character set when Lasso Server is hosted on OS X, or in the Latin-1 (ISO-8859-1) character set when Lasso Server is hosted on Windows. "

I tried with <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1”>  and with <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> in the head of the response.lasso page but without results. I also tried to change the settings in Lasso 9 admin but I could not find were to do it.

Can someone provide advice on this issue?

Tom McFarlane (Lumen Patent Firm)
Hi Hugo,

We had a similar issue with Lasso 9 and FileMaker Server hosted database, but we are using ODBC to talk to the FM database, not the usual FM connector. The fix for us was in the ODBC manager advanced languages settings.

Search is not working in all browsers ..

Michael Benedict
Hello,

Here is one I cannot figure out.

On my PC using chrome this simple inline work fine. Found count of 1.

[Inline:
-search,
-Database= 'Registration',
-table='home',
-Op='eq', 'id_no' = 'FW218010210',
-maxrecords=1]
[Found_Count]
[/inline]

But on Chrome for the Mac and FF for the PC I get of found_count of 0.

I am moving to a new system, works fine on my old servers.

My New system:
Win Server 2008 R2
Lasso Pro 8.3.6
Filemaker Server advanced v11

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Perhaps an obvious thing; but does FW218010210 exist on the server?

RE: Search is not working in all browsers ..

Michael Benedict
That's just an example

This is the actual URL that I am testing with.
I created this only to see if the server was responding properly.

https://iregevents.com/testinline.lasso

It works fine (on my PC) with chrome.
But does not work with Firefox for instance.

Give it a click and let me know what you see.

Should be Hello 1 or 0

Many thanks.

Michael

That's probably going to be an permissions error.  You are probably logged in to Lasso Admin on your PC Chrome, but not logged in with Chrome Mac or FF PC.

What happens when you try putting [Error_CurrentError] before the [Found_Count] ?

Insert within the inline:

[admin_currentusername]
[admin_currentgroups]

...to show the current user and the current user's groups.

Lasso.  It's the user that the inline is running as doesn't have permission to read from the either or all of: host, database or table.

Looking at the sample, your inline was running as the user your browser was logged in as (some form of SiteAdmin/ServerAdmin on Chrome PC, and AnyUser for the browsers you hadn't logged in with).

You need to set up permissions as per Chapter 14 of the Lasso Setup Guide.

RE: Search is not working in all browsers ..

Michael Benedict
Wade,

Thanks, really this is the first time I had done an install from beginning
to end.
The item that threw me was the fact that I had not understood how being
logged into the admin affected the browser and the permissions. Well I know
now.

Read 14 and it's seems good to go.

Thanks for helping the New Guy.

Cheers,
Michael
