Lasso 8.6

Mark Palmer
Hi,

Lasso 8.6.0.1, Mac OS Lion 10.7.1, Mac Pro

New to 8.6 and trying to get Lasso running but all I'm getting back when I hit http://127.0.0.1/ServerAdmin.LassoApp is a blank page.

I've seen a thread about this with reference to Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so and permissions. I have the following permission are these correct or is there some other pieces to the puzzle?

-rwxr-xr-x  1 root  admin    236880 11 Apr 16:59 Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so

I originally tried an uninstall first of what was previously an 8.5 installation, when that didn't work I manually removed the whole Lasso 8 folder from /Applications and tried again.

I have tried running in console mode and that didn't show anything obvious to me.

I have lasso8.conf files in two places

/private/etc/apache2/lasso8.conf

/private/etc/apache2/users/lasso8.conf

Dunno which is the right one but they are identical and contain

# Warning: This file will be overwritten by performing an install,
#          or update of Lasso Professional, which could cause your
#          solutions to not work correctly after an update. If you
#          do choose to modify this file, please make sure to back
#          it up before you perform an install or update.

LoadModule lasso8_module /usr/libexec/apache2/Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo]$">
        SetHandler lasso8-handler
</Location>

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo][Aa][Pp][Pp]$">
        SetHandler lasso8-handler
</Location>

The header returned is:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Mon, 19 Sep 2011 14:51:09 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.19 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.19 OpenSSL/0.9.8r DAV/2
MIME-Version: 1.0
Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT
Last-Modified: Mon, 19 09 2011 14:51:09 GMT
Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0
Pragma: no-cache
Content-Length: 0
Keep-Alive: timeout=5, max=100
Connection: Keep-Alive
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

Which suggests it isn't Lasso returning the data, but is apache.

Re: Lasso 8.6

Jim Sheffer-3
Mark-

The permissions on the connector look OK to me.

The locations of the conf ifles look OK as well but you need to check the httpd.conf file to make sure Apache is set to check one or the other of these folders.  I believe that if it checks both, it will still run but throw an error, especially with configtest.

As for testing, I always use the [date] tag on a .lasso page first to know if Lasso processes the page or not...

Have you tried to connect t to LocalHost instead of 127.0.0.1?  I usually find without a domain set up in vhosts, I tend to run into troubles not knowing which to use...

Not having had any problems updating from 8.5 -> 8.6, I can't tell you much more than everything look OK to me (
with the exception of making sure the httpd.conf file points to the correct directories)...

Re: Lasso 8.6

Mark Palmer
Jim,

I've dropped:

#Begin: Added by Lasso 8 Installer
Include /private/etc/apache2/users/lasso8.conf
#End: Added by Lasso 8 Installer

LoadModule lasso8_module /usr/libexec/apache2/Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo]$">
        SetHandler lasso8-handler
</Location>

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo][Aa][Pp][Pp]$">
        SetHandler lasso8-handler
</Location>

Into the foot of httpd.conf to make sure it loading and I have also tried hitting:

http://192.168.1.10/ServerAdmin.LassoApp
http://localhost/ServerAdmin.LassoApp
http://mark.local/ServerAdmin.LassoApp

No luck - blank pages.

If I hit /index.html I get "It Works" served from a static html file in /Library/Webserver so I know which directory I'm pointed at, however creating and hitting a index.lasso file at that location redirects back to /serveradmin.lassoapp and a blank page.

I've also just done a fresh download of 8.6.0.1, an uninstall and then install on my laptop (also Lion) and get very similar results only this time I got an Auth dialog before a blank screen.

And I thought this was going to be simple.

Lasso 8.6 is not yet supported on Lion. There are known issues to be resolved. That said, it's usually the case that someone on the list can help you find a solution.

Note: we can't accept a support ticket until we officially support Lion for 8.6 We could look at it under a paid support / critical incident request.

Good to know. One of the reasons for my return is to get LP8.6 running on Lion. Keep me up-to-date.

Has anyone gotten it running on Lion as of yet?

Re: Lasso 8.6

Marc Vos
Runs fine with me (Lion clients - not server (yet)).

marcvos @ ~ $ ls -l /usr/libexec/apache2
total 21096
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel    116872 25 jul 10:50 Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so

I upgraded from 10.6.8 to 10.7, so L8.6.x was already installed and running. Just copied the above .so from a 10.6.8 backup disk.

Thanks for the info - I blindly assumed it would just work.

Is there an ETA for Lion support, if it's close I can hang fire otherwise I can use 8.5 for the project?

What did Apple change that breaks it?

Just as an earlier I decided to try a clean install of Lion on a VMWare virtual machine - fairly easy and I believe now allowed by Apple's license.

Although since your email I haven't tried to get Lasso running.

Hi Mark, have you been able to put the Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so in manually as suggested?

Bingo.

I don't have a 10.6 install to go back to for the .so, but just realised I can get it from inside the 8.5.6 installer package.

If I had half a brain I'd be dangerous.

Jono,

Cracked it.

I'd originally convinced myself I had the right connector because a previous thread posting talked about renaming a file to Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so, as my connector already had that name I incorrectly assumed it was all fixed in my installer download.
