[Lasso 8.6.3] imageMagick not loading

Marc Pope-2
Just spent about an hour fixing this problem….

On CentOs 6.7 (64-bit)… Lasso 8.6.3-1.el6.x86_64 looks for libMagickCore.so.4 in /usr/lib64/

The latest ImageMagick uses /usr/lib64/libMagickCore.so.5 and so the image tags do not load.

Attempting to make aliases to the older location doesn’t work nor does copying stuff.

Lasso 8.6.3.x should be updated to use the newer ImageMagick as using outdated libraries is not ideal.

Here’s a temporary fix.

from root:

# yum remove Lasso-Professional*
# yum remove ImageMagick*
# rpm -ivh http://bay.uchicago.edu/centos-vault/6.5/updates/x86_64/Packages/ImageMagick-6.5.4.7-7.el6_5.x86_64.rpm
# yum install Lasso-Professional*

confirm image tags working again.

next, block yum from auto-updating ImageMagic:

# nano /etc/yum.conf

add this line at the end:
exclude = ImageMagick*

Sincerely,

Marc

Jussi Hirvi-2
Thanks to you, I just saved me one hour - probably more. Your tip worked
perfectly.

I also have Lasso 8.6.3, 64-bit, and CentOS 6.7.

In reply to this post by Marc Pope-2
Thanks, this saved me too!

I used this apache config to show a proxied message for all Lasso
pages instead of exposing raw code during the 2 minute reinstallation
process:

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo]$">
        rewriteengine on
        RewriteRule  ^(.*)$
http://lightning.montania.se/serverunderhall.html  [P]
</Location>

<Location ~ "^.*\.[Ll][Aa][Ss][Ss][Oo][Aa][Pp][Pp]$">
        rewriteengine on
        RewriteRule  ^(.*)$
http://lightning.montania.se/serverunderhall.html  [P]
</Location>

By using the -y switch, yum should skip confirmation so all commands
can be run in sequence without user interaction to save precious
downtime seconds.

yum -y remove Lasso-Professional

Any hope for Lasso 8 to get an update for newer imagemagick in CentOS
6.7? I've applied Marc Pope's fix above but it breaks things on the
dark side since PHP is built against latest IM.

Re: [Lasso 8.6.3] imageMagick not loading

Steffan A. Cline
Not only does this require an update for CentOS 6 and 7, it seems the included libicu libraries need to be updated for CentOS 7 as they conflict and prevent auto updates. A manual --exclude=libicu* is required every time.

An official response in a non-formal support forum would be appreciated. :-)

Thanks,
Steffan Cline

In reply to this post by Johan Solve
FWIW, I've been using this replacement [image] type that just wraps
[os_process] calls to whatever version of IM you have installed. It's not
as fast as the Lasso module, and there are some features I didn't implement
because I've never used them. But, if you're not a heavy user of the image
tags, it will get the job done with no other code changes, and it
eliminates a lot of dependencies and conflicts.

Re: [Lasso 8.6.3] imageMagick not loading

Johan Solve
Steffan made a solution for me to have older IM work for Lasso 8.6
side by side with the default IM version on Centos 6.7 (IM 6.7
currently) fpr use by Lasso 9, php and other things.

I can confirm it works fine!

See here http://execuchoice.com/lasso-8-6-x-and-9-3-x-side-by-side-on-centos-6-7/
