Lasso 8.5.6 install on El Capitan

James Sheffer
I was hoping I could do this but got an “instillation failed” error.  Has anyone been successful installing Lasso 8.5.6 on El Capitan?

I need to upgrade Apache for TLS 1.2 so we got a newer server and I was hoping to get Lasso running on it

This info should help.  I've used these instructions to get it working
on everything up to 10.12 Sierra:

Hi Mark,

It’s very simple … after some research

Lasso 8.6 on El Capitan
———————————

Download the latest Lasso8 installer and run it.

Open the Terminal app.

Check if you have this folder: /usr/local/libexec

$ ls -l /usr/local/libexec/apache2
total 792
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 117008 11 okt 2015 Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 142468 11 okt 2015 Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 44416 24 mrt 19:55 mod_lasso9-2.4.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 34252 11 okt 2015 mod_lasso9.10.10.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 58428 11 okt 2015 mod_lasso9.so

If not, create it.

$ sudo mkdir /usr/local/libexec
$ sudo mkdir /usr/local/libexec/apache2

and copy the 'Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so' into that folder. Scan
Lassotalk for a download link.

Look in /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and check the end of that file. It
should have the following 3 lines:

$ tail /etc/apache2/httpd.conf
#Begin: Added by Lasso 8.6 installer
Include /private/etc/apache2/users/lasso8.conf
#End: Added by Lasso 8.6 installer

Next, edit file /etc/apache2/users/lasso8.conf and look at the
'LoadModule’-line. It should look like this:

LoadModule lasso8_module
/usr/local/libexec/apache2/Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so

Change the 'Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so' into
'Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so'

For Lasso 8 to start when OS X starts, since Mac OS 10.10 you need a
LaunchDaemon plist.
Enter the following commands in Terminal:

$ sudo vi /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.lassosoft.lasso8.plist

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN"
"http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>RunAtLoad</key>
<true/>
<key>Label</key>
<string>com.lassosoft.lasso8</string>
<key>ProgramArguments</key>
<array>
<string>/Applications/Lasso Professional
8/LassoAdmin/Lasso8Service.sh</string>
</array>
</dict>
</plist>

$ sudo chown root:wheel /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.lassosoft.lasso8.plist
$ sudo chmod 644 /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.lassosoft.lasso8.plist
$ sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.lassosoft.lasso8.plist

That should do it.

Regards,
Marc Vos

Be aware of this bug with OpenSSL on macOS.  Not sure if it
affects El Capitan.

Re: Lasso 8.5.6 install on El Capitan

The instructions are for Lasso 8.6 but I’m assuming the same for Lasso 8.5?

I searched LassoTalk for a link for a link to: Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so’ but the only link I’ve found no longer works (https://www.dropbox.com/s/moweda213oqjrp3/Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so.zip?dl=0).

Does anyone have a link or a copy of this file, or know what I need to do to update the Lasso 8.5 "Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so” to 2.4?  I saw a few posts where this might be possible (again, they are using Lasso 8.6 instead of Lasso 8.5) - one talked about changing just one line:
---------
So I found the source code in "Lasso Professional 8/Documentation/3 -
Language Guide/Examples/LCAPI/Connectors/Lasso Connector for Apache 2".
It looks like you have to replace "remote_ip" with "client_ip" on line
485 and line 522 to get it to compile. (And, of course, you need the
developer tools installed to compile)

When it compiles, the name will be "Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.2.so". I
would rename it to "Lasso8ConnectorforApache2.4.so", throw it in
"/usr/libexec/apache2", update the Apache configuration, and restart
Apache. Your milage may vary.
—————

Does this look like it would work(I have no idea what the differences are between the two)?

Again, thanks for all the help and instructions!
