FileMaker Upgrade

Randy Zumwalde
I'm wanting to upgrade our FileMaker 8.0v3 to FileMaker 11.
We currently use FMSA and Lasso 8.5.5 for our dynamic web content.
I was wandering if we would be able to accomplish the same by just
purchasing FM Server 11

Re: FileMaker Upgrade

Brian Loomis-3
Randy,

You will be able to do this with the regular version of FileMaker Server 11, you don't need FMSA anymore unless you want JDBC or ODBC.

Re: FileMaker Upgrade

Lasso needs FM Server or Server Advanced.  Compare versions for other purposes:

Re: FileMaker Upgrade

stevepiercy
No.  ODBC and JDBC are supplemental connection methods for
Lasso.  Lasso uses XML in the Lasso Connector for FileMaker SA,
which is for both Server and Server Advanced despite its name.
There are a couple of older Lasso FM connectors, too.

Therefore Lasso does NOT require Server Advanced.

Re: FileMaker Upgrade

Brian Loomis-3
No not anymore, prior to FMS 9 it did because Filemaker was a bit stingy with the features.  FMSA 8 was needed before that.

Yes.  Since version 9 of the FM Server/Server Advanced product
line, Lasso can connect to either.  For FMS 7, 8 and 8.5, Server
Advanced is required.
