Dynamic Pop up Menu list empty

Ben
Hi,
I am using filemaker pro 6 and Lasso 8.5.4. The code is fine, however I have
this problem:
I am using Dynamic Pop up Menu list, here is the code:
<select name="employed"><option value=""></option>
[Value_List: 'employed']
[If: (Action_Param: 'employed') >> (Value_ListItem)]<option
value="[Value_ListItem]" selected>[Value_ListItem]</option>[Else]<option
value="[Value_ListItem]">[Value_ListItem]</option>[/If]
[/Value_List]</select>

When I go to the page add.lsso that have this code, the list appears to be
empty. In other word the item in the POP UP menu list did not display. This
code was working on previous (lasso 7.5), all other ode work just fine.

Is there any thing I need to do make the (Dynamic Pop up Menu list) work?

Thank you

I don't think you got an answer to this question...

The [Value_List:..] tag needs a database action, I would think.
Typically, in today's coding, inside either an inline;  /inline; or
records; /records;  Lasso has to go to a database and a specific
layout in Filemaker to find the Value_list.

On your add.lasso page there may be no database action - just a form
that goes to a response page where the data are entered.

In the "old days" I would wrap the form info with something like this:

[inline: -database='xxx', -table='yyy', -username='zzz', -
password='www', -show]

...form stuff...

[/inline]

That way Lasso has a place to look for the value_list information.
The -show action doesn't pull any specific record, but does gather
information on fields in the layout.

Hi,

Thanks for you comments, I still do not know the answer to this problem.

I do know that what I wrote is not working. Is there a way to make this work
with lasso 8.5 or should I use static menu list.  That will be so bad and a
lot of work. I am hoping that one of you expert out there could help me with
this problem.

Thanks

Re: Dynamic Pop up Menu list empty

Well we can't help you, then, without seeing some code.  So you say it
does not work on the add.lasso page?  Why not paste in the code for
the form on that page. If there is an [inline: ] on that page show
that code, too.  And it would help to see the link that sends the user
to the add page.

fm value list are apart
i remember vaguely value_list can have a second parameter which is
the name of the field associated to the list on the fm layer. it's
not clear in my mind...

someone posted this recently
[Value_List: Field Name , List=Value List Name ]
