Current versions of Filemaker, still using the WEP to connect to Lasso ?

Tim Taplin
Anyone familiar with current versions of Filemaker and Lasso? Have a client who is planning an upgrade to their Filemaker, and not sure how much has changed since Version 11. Mac OS X system for both Filemaker and Lasso.

I asked that question about FileMaker 15 last year, and I got the quoted response from Max.  I believe the information is the same in FileMaker 16, and the URLs referenced below can be modified to see the information for v16.  I did a lot of testing, but never actually purchased the licenses because I didn’t agree with how FileMaker Licensing for Teams works (unrelated to Lasso).

Lasso connects to FileMaker 15 via XML and it's Web Publishing Engine (WPE). These XML connections do not count against the connection-based licensing FileMaker is referring to, documented here:

These connections are not limited in anyway, however, FileMaker Server does have a setting that limits the "Maximum Number of Custom Web Publishing Connections" at any given time, documented here:

Hi Tim,

FileMaker made some changes to the WPE between v11 and v12 but LassoSoft didn't update the connector, so I've been thru the pains of upgrading. Thankfully FileMaker hasn't made any changes since, so v12 thru v16 all work/break the same. Here are some previous posts that should help:

On a side note, FMS16 has a new REST API:

        https://fmhelp.filemaker.com/docs/16/en/restapi/ <https://fmhelp.filemaker.com/docs/16/en/restapi/>

I'm not holding my breath but it would be really awesome if LassoSoft came out with a new connector to leverage this API, and restored parity to inline statements across the different datasources.
