Compiling Lasso 9 Code?

Marc Pope-2
I am looking at distributing some software I am working on and wondering if
any  work was ever done to be able to compile a Lasso 9 application into a
distributable binary?

I know there was talk of this for years, but never followed up. I know
there's LassoApps, but was looking for something where I could distribute
that didn't require Lasso to be installed.

Probably asking for a lot.

Mark,

Not sure if this is going to help you, but take a look here:
http://lassoguide.com/operations/command-line-tools.html#compiling-lasso-code

I believe that will allow you to distribute an executable without
Lasso needing to be installed on the machine. (You may need to have
the lasso framework / runtime installed on the other machine using
those commands, but there is probably a way to statically compile that
library into your executable.)

If you’re talking about distributing a web application without
installing lasso, that becomes a trickier issue. You would need to
write the web server your self and compile it into the executable —
you wouldn’t be able to use the lassoserver web / fastcgi server.
(With 9.3 trident, might have web server code built-in that you could
use.)

Is there any way to encrypt Lasso code similar to php ioncube or anything like that? I thought about putting some basic logic into a Lasso app but don’t think 9 has that any longer

In reply to this post by Brad Lindsay
Never mind, found the section on Lasso apps. Will see if I can make that work.
