ChartFX issues

Dave Bruhn
We recently upgraded our version of Apache, and everything came back up just fine with the exception of ChartFX.  Currently, it's showing "Invalid License (300000). Please contact SoftwareFX Support."

We've re-entered the license (and we know the license is valid), restarted the Lasso process, and that hasn't worked.  SoftwareFX is unable to help us.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!
Dave

Re: ChartFX issues

Rachel Guthrie
Please try SoftwareFX again.
Was it a new server, or just Apache?

We have had others with this issue - SoftwareFX have previously responded helpfully that they would uptick the number of installations permitted for the serial number so that the valid serial would work again.

Re: ChartFX issues

Dave Bruhn
It was just an Apache upgrade.  No hardware was changed.

Oh, and I believe we went from 2.2.17 to 2.2.25.  Not a HUGE Apache upgrade (ie., 2.0 to 2.2 or 2.4).

Re: ChartFX issues

Did they have to reinstall ChartFX?

Here's the response we got from SoftwareFX...
======
> When you install Chart FX on a computer, the installer will create a code that combines the serial number used with some information about the machine. That code is passed to our licensing server that will generate a unique license for that machine and serial number. If you modify aspects of the machine, the license will no longer match the information and an “Invalid License” message will be displayed. To remediate this issue you would need to run the installer again. A new code needs to be generated and sent to our licensing server. It is true that our licensing server will only do this once per serial number, and on event that the user needs to migrate that serial number to another machine (or modify the existing machine’s hardware, java version, etc) we will increase that number on the licensing server. As I have previously mentioned, I have no problem doing this. But until you are capable of sending the code to our licensing server, this is a moot point. I will continue trying to find alternative solutions, but if you find an installer on your end, please let me know.

Well, being a new server setup I would expect that they did have to reinstall.

Hope you find that installer.

Cheers
