Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

Laurent Gigon
Hello,

I've already posted this question but it does not appear in the
LassoTalk email list, only on Lassotalk website, curious.

I'm trying to configure Amazon SES Actually the connection is not
working between Lasso 8.6.3 and Amazon SES, I've got this error
message :

SMTP: [21] Failed to connect to host "email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com".

Server Name: email-smtp.us-east-1.amazonaws.com
Port: 25, 465 or 587
Use Transport Layer Security (TLS): Yes
Authentication: Your SMTP credentials

On Lasso email setup : Use SMTP SSL When Available : NO

I've tried to use ports 25, 465 and 587, same result. I suspect TLS
mode to be required by SES.

Did I miss something?

Laurent

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

Did you run through this troubleshooting guide?
http://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/troubleshooting.html

Lasso might be merely the messenger of the problem.

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

Laurent Gigon
I use the same configuration on PHP server and it works, since only the
server IP is different, Lasso has an issue, I think it's the mandatory TLS
on Amazon SES.

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

stevepiercy
I just noticed, why do you have SSL set to no?  Change it to yes.

>On Lasso email setup : Use SMTP SSL When Available : NO

TLS is the successor to SSL, but the Lasso Admin UI hasn't
caught up with the change in the acronym.

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

stevepiercy
Here's another troubleshooting checklist.  It's good for
identifying whether stuff outside of Lasso is configured
correctly and your settings are aligned with the configuration.
http://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/smtp-issues.html

Worst case scenario, use the SES API instead of Lasso's email stuff.

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

Laurent Gigon
It could be the best way, the problem is SES requires an signature on
the API request :
http://docs.aws.amazon.com/fr_fr/general/latest/gr/signature-version-4.html
Which is also an issue with Lasso 8.6.

Re: Amazon SES TLS, unable to connect to server

stevepiercy
At that point, you can "shell out".  I've done something similar
with Rackspace and Lasso 8, as described in this article.
