Amazon SES SMTP

Kevin Bice
Has anyone been able to use Amazon SES SMTP service successfully using email setup in Lasso 8.6?

I cannot seem to be able to connect. I am assuming that it is Lasso’s inability to use modern TLS, but I wanted to confirm.

I have some code that works. I need to clean it up and can then share it.

Thanks,

It's possible and there are lots of options.

You must have either an OS that supports TLS v1.2+ or install a
library that does.

While developing on macOS, I have installed the latest openssl
via brew, whereas on CentOS it's already installed and current.

I invoke curl via os_process and shell, because Lasso's
include_url has less flexibility.  Also curl is documented by
the service provider, whereas I've never seen a third party
document Lasso's include_url.

You can use postfix instead of email_send.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/postfix.html#send-email-postfix

You can also use the command line, but it's less intuitive.

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/send-email-smtp-client-command-line.html

There's also an API.

Thanks Steffan. I would be very interested in seeing your solution.

I have been using Mailgun, but their IPs are getting blocked more and more. They do not seem to care about it.

SES seems to be a a better solution than setting up my own SMTP server.

Thank you for providing pointers to the answers. I have used curl through os_process/shell, and my CentOS boxes support TLS 1.2.

I will jump into that next after taking a look at Steffan’s code.
